Tree Check Workshop – Canadian Food Inspection Agency

August is Tree Check Month, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency wants to teach residents how to keep their trees and greenspaces healthy with a free public demonstration.

Under the Trolley Station at Britannia Park (next to the Ron Kolbus Lakeside Centre), residents can get hands-on tips for checking trees and learn how to spot early signs of trouble from local experts.

With just a few minutes and a quick look for signs like tiny holes in the bark, sawdust at the base, dead branches, or leaves falling too early, residents can help protect the health of our urban forest. Trees give so much back — from cleaner air and cooler streets to wildlife habitat and beautiful, vibrant spaces.

Spot an invasive species? Snap it, catch it and report it! These small actions can make a big difference for the trees in their yards, neighbourhoods, and local parks.

We hope to see you there! If possible, an RSVP would be appreciated so that our media relations staff can help you get what you need for your story.

We would also greatly appreciate your support in helping spread the word ahead of our event. Together, we can protect and preserve Ottawa’s leafy canopy for generations to come.
