A 911 call was received by Ottawa Fire Service at 8:55 am this morning from 1 Butterfield Road in Munster. The home is a two storey split level single family home.
The call from residents indicated that there was heavy smoke and flames visibly coming from the basement furnace.
Upon arrival, the firefighters positioned for a fast offensive attack and the fire was knocked down quickly. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. The residents had evacuated from the home safely.
The fire was under control by 9:53 am and the firefighters had the fire out completely by 10:18 am.
A fire investigator has been dispatched and is responding to the cause. Damages have been estimated at $150,000.
