Have you registered for the Awesome Authors youth writing contest? It is one of the Ottawa Public Library’s longest-running and popular programs and you have until February 28, 2020 to register. This writing contest, for Ottawa youth aged 9 to 18, encourages young authors to submit creative writing to win prizes. You can submit a piece of original writing in each of three literary categories: a poem, a comic or a short story – in English and/or French. One submission per person, per category and language. Here is a link to find out more https://biblioottawalibrary.ca/en/about/awesome-authors.
You have registered and are experiencing writer’s block! Or, do you want another set of eyes to help you with your Awesome Authors submission?

On February 1st, you can receive help with both. Local author and contest judge, Catherine Austen, will be at the Stittsville Library Branch in the Grace Thompson meeting room from 11:00 am – 12:00 noon. Catherine will be sharing advice, tips and tricks on how to write a winning story. This session is for children between the ages of 9-12.
Secure your spot at the workshop now by registering here. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to get advice and learn from this esteemed author and judge.
The Awesome Authors youth writing contest is sponsored by the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association (FOPLA) who also publish pot-pourri, an annual anthology of the winning poems, stories and comics. To get your copy, visit the FOPLA website at https://www.fopla-aabpo.ca/.
