If you were standing in front of Quitters during last Saturday’s Parade of Lights, you might have seen a little bit of holiday magic. Josh Gibeault, a volunteer firefighter from Stittsville’s Station 81, proposed to his longtime girlfriend Megan Faulkner, a nurse at the Granite Ridge Care Community.
Gibeault had it all planned out, and enlisted help from family, friends, fellow firefighters and even Santa to make it happen.
“I had no idea that he was going to propose,” says Faulkner. “Then all of a sudden Santa Claus, who was on top of the fire truck, shouted ‘can Megan step forward’ and just then I knew what was going to happen.”
“There was lots of planning with it,” says Gibeault. “I had to ask everyone from Station 81 to give me a hand, because we had to slow down firetrucks, we had to speed up firetrucks, move firefighters… the big thing too was getting family involved…”
We met up with the ridiculously adorable couple earlier this week to hear the story of how it all came together…
(Gibeault may be familiar to long-time StittsvilleCentral.ca readers… he won a local dance-off back in the summer of 2015 with some pretty amazing moves. Sadly the original video is no longer online!)
