“Our goal is to gift our community with music.” The West Ottawa Ladies Chorus has certainly lived up to their goal. Their performances include a collection of songs from a broad range of genres and eras – something for everyone to enjoy. The Chorus regularly performs concerts in the fall and spring of each year to large audiences at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Kanata under the guidance of Robert Dueck, with pianist Peter Brown providing accompaniment. They have shared their music with residents in retirement homes, long-term care facilities, at community events, Ottawa’s City Hall, other surrounding communities and have even popped up in a Stittsville grocery store.
Should you wish to be part of The West Ottawa Ladies Chorus, now is your opportunity. The West Ottawa Ladies Chorus is a gently auditioned chorus with an average membership of 35 to 40 singers under the music direction of Stittsville resident Robert Dueck.
The chorus has a few openings for high vocal range 1st Soprano singers. Please contact Robert at ladieschorus@bell.net to schedule a meeting time for Wednesday, January 9th or Sunday, January 13th if you are interested in singing with this community choir. Time spent is in chorus rehearsal style format and will introduce singers to the upcoming 2019 Spring Term repertoire following some vocal warm-up time.
The Spring concert promises to be another stirring performance. The West Ottawa Ladies Chorus will be joined by the Ottawa Police Chorus to perform a variety of international folk music – ‘A Tapestry of Folk Songs’. The concert will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019. For more information go to: www.westottawaladieschorus.ca
