Recommended road and transit projects for Stittsville
It’s finally here! City staff have released the draft list of recommended transit and road projects for the Transportation Master Plan, and there are a number of much-needed major projects to accommodate growth in Stittsville.
Major road and transit projects recommended for Stittsville include:
- Stage 3 LRT from Moodie to Hazeldean Station in Stittsville, including stations at Palladium and Maple Grove.
- Stittsville Main Street extension (north from Jackson Trails)
- Robert Grant extension (Hazeldean to Palladium)
- Terry Fox widening (Winchester to Abbott)
- Fernbank urbanization* (West Ridge to Shea)
- Maple Grove urbanization* (Terry Fox to Huntmar)
- Shea urbanization* (Abbott to Cosanti)
- Hazeldean urbanization* (Carp to West Ridge)
- Stittsville Main Street improvements (Hazeldean to Bobcat)
*Urbanization means an upgrade to the road with sidewalks, pathways, upgraded intersections, etc. (Note: The Carp Road upgrade is already a committed project with construction expected to start this year.)
It’s very important that Stittsville residents share their feedback through the surveys and engagement sessions. Please let City staff know which projects are important to you! The first engagement session is on April 8 at John G. Mlacak Centre (2500 Campeau Drive, Kanata) from 6:30pm-8:30pm. See a list of all engagement sessions here – in-person and online.

It is now even easier to help protect your home from basement flooding
The City’s Residential Protective Plumbing program has had an upgrade. Through the updated program, eligible homeowners can apply for rebates to install new protective plumbing devices. These devices can prevent sewage or stormwater from entering homes when the sewer’s capacity is exceeded during an extreme weather event. The updated program now offers larger rebate amounts and a simplified application process. More info…

Everyone can learn more about the planning process in Ottawa
Planning and development is a complicated business. However, it is also an incredibly important part of what the City manages on a daily basis. You need to understand planning issues if you are buying or selling a property, living near a development site, or simply concerned or interested about your city’s future. The City’s Planning Primer workshops are a free opportunity for you to learn about planning in Ottawa. The sessions are led by planning staff and each workshop includes a discussion, with time for questions and answers. More info…

AVRA membership drive
The Amberwood Village Golf and Recreation Club (AVRA) is non-profit recreation club that sits on 50-acres in the middle of Amberwood Village and is open to the public . The facilities include a nine-hole golf course, an outdoor swimming pool, 10 pickleball courts, and a clubhouse with indoor and outdoor dining facilities including a beautiful patio overlooking the golf course. What makes this property so unique is that it is community -owned by the homeowners of Amberwood Village and managed by a volunteer board of directors residing in the community.
From April 16-30 volunteers will be canvassing the neighbourhood encouraging homeowners to join their Association called the Amberwood Village Recreation Association or AVRA. In addition to voting rights, the membership comes with many perks. Please welcome the canvassers—your neighbours—who are working to protect the greenspace and preserve it as a thriving recreational area for everyone to enjoy.
