Stittsville resident Jesse Card, Director of Youth Ottawa, wins Ottawa’s Forty Under 40 Award
When Stittsville Central last caught up with Jesse Card in April of 2021, he had just taken over as Director of Youth Ottawa. A couple of years later, he has won Ottawa’s Forty Under 40 Award for his work in that position.
Sacred Heart’s production of the Broadway Classic “Annie” gets rave reviews!
For seniors like Emilea Kavanagh, who played the lead role of Grace in the musical, getting to do one final show at the school is very special. Emilea says, “It means a lot to be able to do one last performance at Sacred. I’ve been a part of the drama program at the school since grade seven and I’m glad I get one more show before I graduate.”
Stittsville hockey players Lucas Prud’homme and Kyler LeBoutillier drafted to the OHL in the Priority Selection Draft
When asked about playing hockey and how a hobby became a passion, both boys commented on the friendships they made along the way. Lucas said, “I definitely say I developed my passion and love for the game just with the friendships I made, like Kyler and all the guys I’ve met along my journey. So that really holds a special place.”
The Kiwanis Kids 4 Kids Talent Showcase returns for its second annual performance
In 2019, the Kanata-Stittsville Kiwanis Club held their first Kids 4 Kids talent show. Four years and one pandemic later, they held their second (what will hopefully now be) annual show.
Sacred Heart’s Varsity lacrosse team takes home gold at the annual Spring Thaw Tournament
The Huskies Lacrosse team will be an exciting one to watch with their high-scoring offense and strong goaltending. They are certainly the team to beat in the NCSSAA top division this year as they look to make back-to-back OFSSA appearances.
Sacred Heart’s dance classes travel to Zak’s Diner to film 50’s inspired video!
Sacred Heart dance teacher Mrs. Donaghy and her grade 9 and 10 dancers took the time this year to ensure they stood out from the rest of the OCSB dance videos. The classes spent a school day at Zak’s Diner in Kanata filming their Grease-inspired dance video.
Sacred Heart High alumni Laura Devenny to receive the Queen’s University prestigious Agnes Benidickson Tricolour Award
One of the most prestigious student awards at Queen’s University is the Agnes Benidickson Tricolour Award. The award is given annually by the Office of the Rector to students “for valued and distinguished service, leadership, character, and community impact.”
West Ottawa Ringette returns victorious at the U14 Provincials in both the “A” and “AA” levels!
The U14AA team was not the only gold medal winner this year though. The U14A team also came home with some hardware at their own provincials a week later.
The HEO U18AAA season comes to an end for the last time under a 12-team league, as plans to eliminate the U15 Priority Draft are finalized
The Hockey Eastern Ontario (HEO) U18AAA season has come to an end with the Kemptville 73s winning the HEO regional qualifiers tournament and moving on to compete at the Central Regional Qualifiers on the road to the TELUS Cup. But what teams didn’t know at the beginning of the season, is that this would be the last HEO U18AAA season as they know it… at least for a while.
