The day began with Councillor Glen Gower’s breakfast for seniors organized by Hazeldean Gardens. With over 150 seniors awash in their red and white, the group enjoyed their pancake breakfast grilled by members of the Knights of Columbus, with Station 46 and 81 firefighters serving up the plates. Lyndon Slewidge sang O’Canada. Everyone headed over to Kavanagh Green to celebrate the raising of the Canadian flag. A patriotic event indeed!

Over at Sacred Heart High School, the day was shaping up with the set-up of activities as the Stittsville Village Association prepared to celebrate Canada’s 152nd birthday. By 1:00 pm with guests arriving, the party was geared up and ready to start.

As daytime moved to evening, it was time to prepare for the big show – glow sticks and fireworks. A perfect ending to a weather perfect day!
