GAIA JAVA: Guitarist double bill on April 1

Andrew Waines has been active in the music industry since 2013. He played rhythm guitar with the Jordan McIntosh Band for two years, including performances at Ottawa Bluesfest, Boots & Hearts Country Music Festival and Cavendish PEI Beach Festival just to name a few of the big venues. Andrew has also played lead guitar for Mandia Nantsios at various events including Ottawa’s Greekfest.

Recently Andrew has been focusing on solo work in the soft-rock-blues genre, including both original material and covers. Currently having some fun showcasing his material at Open Mics across Ottawa. He recently released a debut album ‘Onset’ and you can hear excerpts from this at his website at: http://andrewwainesmusic.wix.com/andrew-waines

Some of you may have heard Otto Cepella when he was in town just before Christmas. He was featured on an early morning radio show at CKCU-FM, and also played in the shop, creating a very good impression.

Otto is a native of Ottawa, and studied at Carleton University, but is now resident mostly in the Netherlands even though he still has family here. Relatively recently he decided to enhance his guitar learning and has developed an impressive and distinctive finger-style approach that works across many genres – folk, classical, jazz, world-music etc. Some of his tunes are versions of renditions by other guitar maestros such as Tommy Emmanuel, whereas others may be original pieces. All are impressive and leave you wondering if he has the same number of fingers as the rest of us! Don’t miss this amazing performer! Check out his facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/otto.cepella and search for some of his videos on Youtube.

The music nights start at 7pm, and as usual there is no charge, but we do have a ‘jar’ for donations to support the musicians, and we hope that you will buy a drink or two (and maybe something tasty to eat!)

See more details at www.gaiajava.ca where you can also review the listing of upcoming music night performers over the next month or so – everything from music students to seasoned professionals who are willing to come and share their talents with you.

2016 continues to feature a stellar line-up of Ottawa musicians – check out the gaiajava.ca website for advance notice, and mark up your agendas. Here is the schedule for the rest of the Fridays in April:
