The Minor Atom Stittsville Rams competitive hockey team competed in the Bell Capital Cup hockey tournament over the Christmas holidays between 29 and 31 December and found success.
The win put the Rams into the finals on New Year’s Eve against the Nepean Raiders (Black). The match was another incredibly exciting, albeit tense affair as the game’s momentum shifted from side to side. The Rams opened the scoring with an amazing shot by Mitchel Cairns which found the back of the net half way through the 1stperiod. It would prove to be enough. From that point on, the Rams defensive play took over and Joshua Wainwright shone in goal. Josh made several amazing saves keeping the opposition off the scoreboard and deservedly earned the 1st Star of the game.
Playing in the finals at the Canadian Tire Centre was an incredible experience for the players, coaches and all spectators who witnessed the game. Winning the championship was the icing on the cake – well done boys !
