Following the three mental health seminars offered last month, the Ottawa-Stittsville Rotary Club hopes to continue providing support to their community members struggling during this difficult time. In their efforts to resume their support, and in recognition of Mental Health Week (May 3-9, 2021), The Rotary Club is offering two additional free virtual webinars to the community.

The first webinar, titled “Are the Kids OK?” takes place on Monday, May 3rd from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The webinar will include a discussion between three panelists on the topic of youth mental health and addiction issues. Following presentations by each panelist and a discussion on topics of interest, there will be a 40-minute question-and-answer period. Anyone interested in participating in this webinar can register at the link here.

The second webinar is called “Redefining Masculinity,” and will run on Thursday, May 6th from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Ryan Forsyth hosts the webinar presentation, which will address men’s mental health. The candid presentation will include discussing the stigma and myths surrounding mental health from a male perspective. Interested participants can register at this link.

Mental health continues to be undeniably important to discuss. With Ottawa seeing opioid use increase significantly in recent years, and with the ongoing pandemic, people are suffering now more than ever when it comes to their mental health. Webinars such as these serve to help members of the community learn more about mental illness and to thus work further towards removing the stigma surrounding mental health overall.
