The City of Ottawa is advising residents to check that their names are on the voters’ list in order to to avoid any delays at the voting place when you make your mark in this fall’s municipal election.
You can access the voters’ list online at ottawa.ca/vote, or by calling 3-1-1 or the Elections Office at 613-580-2660, or visiting any Client Service Centre. The list identifies people eligible to vote in the 2014 City of Ottawa municipal election by name, address, school support and residency status.
You can vote in the municipal elections if, on voting day, you are:
- An Ottawa resident or an owner or tenant of land in the city boundaries
- A spouse of such an owner or tenant
- A Canadian citizen
- At least 18 years of age
- Not prohibited from voting by law.
If your name is not on the list or is incorrect, you can download and complete the form – entitled “Application to Add or Amend My Name to the Voters’ List” and mail it to the City of Ottawa’s Elections Office (1221 Cyrville Road, Unit B, Ottawa, K1J 7S8) or drop it off at any Client Service Centre by September 16.
After September 16, you can bring your completed form with you to your voting place on voting day. However, you are encouraged to submit changes by the deadline to avoid any delays when you vote.
Voter Notifications will be mailed to qualified voters on the Voters’ List, informing them of when and where to vote. You should bring the notification with you when you vote, along with ID that contains your name and Ottawa address. A complete list of acceptable ID can be found at ottawa.ca/voterID.

Voting day is Monday, October 27, 2014, with advance voting starting on October 1.
