Ottawa Fire Dispatch received a 911 call for a chimney fire at 21:32 December 18, 2017 for 2 Pine Tree Court in the Amberwood area. The caller saying flames shooting out the chimney. On arrival, heavy smoke was visible coming from the eaves and windows. Working fire declared 21:38.
This is a single storey row house unit. The fire did spread into the walls. With a fast offensive attack, firefighters manage to get the fire under control 21:55. At this time, firefighters are starting salvage operations.
At the time of the call, two occupants of the home were able to get out safely. All clear in the home 22:01
Ottawa Police Services, Ottawa Paramedic Service, Enbridge, Hydro advised, and responding.
UPDATE: Loss Stop 22:14. Two occupants will be displaced however victim services not required. No firefighter or civilian injury. Approximate damages estimated $200,000.
